ACE Clamping and safety elements hold axes in special lathes rock-solid and secure previously determined positions horizontally and vertically
In order to secure the processing position of a special lathe in both the horizontal and the vertical axis, LOCKED SL clamping elements from ACE are installed. They have the further advantage of preventing slippage through the vertical axis in the case of a malfunction. The products used in the SL family not only have the correct track width and offer very high process clamping forces of up to 10,000 N, but can also apply the same force as an emergency-stop braking function. This is due to the specially integrated brake linings made of low-wear sintered metal.

Brake components for pneumatic linear modules
Pneumatic linear modules in miniature slide systems ensure high speeds with constant repeat accuracy. In this design, pneumatic end-of-travel damping was deliberately omitted and shock absorbers from ACE were used. This is because the compact MC5 to MC75 miniature shock absorbers decelerate the movements more safely and quickly when the end position is reached. They always absorb the mass gently and decelerate evenly over the entire stroke. Further advantages: significantly simpler construction, smaller pneumatic valves, smaller maintenance units and lower compressed air consumption.

Damping system for pick and place machines
ACE miniature shock absorbers optimize production with minimum expenditure. The cycle rate for an assembly line producing electronic components was increased to 3,600 units/hr. The ACE SC190 miniature shock absorbers decelerate the rapid transfer movements on the production line and using soft damping methods optimize the pick up and set down of components. This soft deceleration technique has increased production and reduced maintenance on the portal and rotary actuator modules. The optional side load adaptor protects the shock absorber from high side load forces and increases the operating lifetime. It was possible to reduce maintenance costs by 50% and operating costs by 20%, diminishing energy consumption.

Braking systems for gripper carriages
In this design, driven by rodless pneumatic cylinders, two gripper carriages move independently of each other at speeds of 2 to 2.5 m/s. ACE industrial shock absorbers from the product family MC33 to MC64 are used as brake systems, which have to stop a mass of 25 kg up to 540 times per hour in a material-friendly manner. The MC3350 model was used in this case, which allows the sliding stop slides to be adjusted very easily and precisely in the end position. Compared to brakes that work differently, the ACE shock absorbers enable higher travel speeds and shorter cycle sequences. This optimization of the unit in terms of machine loading results in a significant increase in productivity.

Safety damping for the loading mechanism of lathes
ACE TUBUS profile dampers protect the integrated loading station on a new high speed machining center. The ACE TUBUS damper is designed to prevent overrun on the high speed loading station of a Camshaft machining centre used in the automobile industry. In the event that the drive train fails during operation or incorrect data is inputted the ACE TUBUS damper absorbs the impact preventing costly damage to the machine. The TA98-40 TUBUS damper impressed engineers with this exceptionally long service life in operation. When used as an emergency stop the TUBUS damper can absorb up to 73 % of the impact energy.

Safety damping for the loading mechanics of feeding systems
Preventing expensive damage after software errors or power outages is the task of two TUBUS TA17-7 profile dampers. Installed in various linear axes, handling and feed systems, they ensure that there are no uncontrolled impacts of the masses in the end positions. Designed as a cost-effective alternative to the hydraulic end position damping length if pinpoint stopping is not a priority, profile dampers demonstrate their strength: High force absorption in a compact design. Thanks to the co-polyester elastomer material, they also outstrip the service life of competing solutions many times over.

End position damping for hydraulic cylinders in test systems
In a testing facility for vehicle tanks, the test specimens are pulled out of the water with a support arm. A hydraulic cylinder carries out the swinging movement and is attenuated in the end position by two TUBUS TR85-50. Even if this work could be taken over by other absorber solutions, the energy balance clearly speaks for the benefits of the profile dampers: they are inexpensive, they save space, they are free of leaks due to solid construction and are suitable for underwater functions in the test pool.

Safety damping for the loading mechanics of feeding systems
Silicon wafers serve as starting products for solar cells and are produced in special furnaces. Optimum positioning of the wafers is a basic requirement for all manufacturing processes in the furnaces. Loading of the furnaces, some of which are well over 1.000 °C, is carried out by a fully automated unit controlled by software. In order to prevent manufacturing errors, rejects and damage to the overall construction, the linear modules and rotary table of the loading unit are additionally protected by ACE's TUBUS TR-HD profile dampers.
